Just slip a card with your name and address and you are ready to go. You have now learned how to sew DIY luggage tags. You can top stitch all the way around your tag if you like. Fold under the raw edges at the bottom and Sew the opening closed using ladder stitch. Turn the tag through the opening in the bottom. Add the strap Layer the pieces Step 8: How to Sew DIY Luggage Tags Sew around the outside of the interfacing leaving an opening in the bottom of the tag for turning. Place the other main fabric piece on top of the pocket piece right sides together sandwiching the strap and the pocket piece. Place the short raw edges of the strap to the center of the top of the right sides of the pocket piece so it forms a loop. Fold in half to enclose the raw edges and press again. Place the pocket Piece onto a main fabric piece Step 7: How to Sew DIY Luggage TagsĬreate the strap by folding the raw edges toward the middle and pressing. Place the pocket on top of one of the main tag pieces as shown. I used remnants from my stash that I purchased from JOANN Fabric & Craft Stores to make my luggage tags but you could use your own stash or head to Hobby Lobby or to get exactly what you need for this project. You can also make them with fat quarters or some of your scraps and stash. They are simple to make and only require basic sewing skills. You will never lose your luggage in the carousel with these colorful luggage tags. I used the same pattern but just changed it up a little. Changing the tutorial also eliminated the need for grommets. ![]() So I thought to revamp the tutorial to include sturdier hangers. I made some luggage tags a while back and while they were functional, the ribbon used to attach them to the luggage was not particularly functional. ![]()
